Reproductive Endocrinology
GUIDELINES
The Serono Foundation for the Advancement
of Medical Science is a non-profit organization registered in Switzerland,
which provides an educational platform to the scientific and medical communities
through fellowships, workshops and training courses.
Eligibility
-
Applicants must have completed a PhD
and/or MD or equivalent academic degree, preferably not more than 3
years prior to the start date of the fellowship.
- Candidates
applying for a postdoctoral fellowship should be changing laboratory.
- Ability
to communicate fluently in English (verbal and written).
Applications
Applications pertaining to the research area of reproductive
endocrinology will be accepted. Candidates must complete the application
form and attach the following documentation (in English):
- Your
curriculum vitae

A
copy of your academic degree certificate(s)
- A
description of the proposed research project:
a. Title, Aims, and Summary of proposal
b. Explain the Background and the Scientific Rationale of the proposed
research project (maximum
2 pages)
c. Provide a description of the Experimental Plan and the Scientific
Goal (maximum 3 pages)
d. State the Potential Benefits, Innovation, and Significance of the
research project (1 page)
- References
to your most recent peer reviewed articles in the area of the study
(up to a maximum of 5)
- A
summary of your last or current research project (1 page)
- A
letter of recommendation from your current supervisor
- Name
of the institute or university where the research project will be conducted,
and include a confirmatory letter from the proposed supervisor, head
of department and financial officer.
- References
to five selected peer-reviewed articles from the proposed supervisor
from the past five years.
The Fellowship
The duration of each fellowship is 2 years,
and a grant of USD 45,000 per year will be awarded to each successful
applicant as a salary and to defray personal expenses incurred for his/her
postdoctoral training. The fellowship will start October 2004 and shall
be terminated 30 September 2006.
Results of the competition will be communicated by 15 July 2004.
